Abstract
[en] Private equity has become a global phenomenon, spreading worldwide both in terms of value
and number of transactions. This thesis aims at determining the impact of private equity on industry performance. The main question is whether private equity funds improve the performance of the companies in their portfolio more than comparable listed companies. The study also tries to test the improved industry performance that might be caused by private
equity investment activity. This paper also tries to investigate if private equity funds select to invest in industries that are growing faster.
