Les représentations du cycle thébain dans la céramique attique. Implication et identité des témoins

Abstract

Le but de ce mémoire est d’abord de faire l’état des représentations des différents mythes que je vais aborder tant du point de vue des traditions littéraires que de l’iconographie. J’ai alors dégagé une scène minimale de ces traditions, associées à mes premières observations iconographiques, pour pouvoir poser un cadre à la suite de l’étude. L’enjeu sera d’approcher l’imagerie de chacun de ces vases, un par un, afin d’en dégager les témoins et les autres intervenants pour, in fine, trouver des cohérences et des ressemblances entre les éléments d’un même mythe. L’intérêt repose sur la mise en valeur de figures particulières qui apparaissent dans les images de l’un ou de l’autre vase. Qui sont-elles ? Quelles sont leurs implications ? Qu’ont-elles comme lien avec nos scènes ? Pourquoi sont-elles représentées ? Peut-on en tirer une nouvelle interprétation ? Voilà en quoi consiste l’étude des témoins, de leur identité et de leur implication.

The goal of this dissertation is first of all to take stock of the representations of the various myths that I am going to discuss from the point of view of both literary traditions and iconography. I then established a "minimal scene" of these traditions, associated with my initial iconographic observations, in order to be able to set a framework for further study. The challenge will be to approach the imagery of each of these vases in order to identify the witnesses and other participants, and ultimately to find coherence and similarities between the elements of the same myth. The interest is based on the highlighting of particular figures that appear in the images of one or the other vase. Who are they? What are their implications? What do they have in common with our scenes? Why are they depicted? Can a new interpretation be drawn from them? This is what the study of witnesses, their identity and their involvement consists of.

El objetivo de esta disertación es, en primer lugar, hacer un inventario de las representaciones de los diversos mitos que voy a discutir desde el punto de vista de las tradiciones literarias y la iconografía. A continuación, establecí una "escena mínima" de estas tradiciones, asociada a mis observaciones iconográficas iniciales, para poder establecer un marco de trabajo para el estudio posterior. El reto será abordar la imaginería de cada uno de estos vasos para identificar a los testigos y a los demás participantes y, en última instancia, encontrar coherencia y similitudes entre los elementos de un mismo mito. El interés se basa en destacar las figuras particulares que aparecen en las imágenes de uno u otro vaso. ¿Quiénes son? ¿Cuáles son sus implicaciones? ¿Qué tienen en común con nuestras escenas? ¿Por qué se representan? ¿Se puede extraer una nueva interpretación de ellas? En esto consiste el estudio de los testigos, su identidad y su implicación.

Ziel dieser Dissertation ist zunächst eine Bestandsaufnahme der Darstellungen der verschiedenen Mythen, die ich sowohl aus der Sicht der literarischen Traditionen als auch aus der Sicht der Ikonographie diskutieren werde. Dann habe ich eine "Minimalszene" dieser Traditionen erstellt, die mit meinen ersten ikonographischen Beobachtungen verbunden ist, um einen Rahmen für die weitere Untersuchung setzen zu können. Die Herausforderung wird darin bestehen, sich die Darstellungen jeder dieser Vasen anzunähern, um die Zeugen und anderen Figuren zu identifizieren und schließlich Kohärenz und Ähnlichkeiten zwischen den Elementen desselben Mythos zu finden. Das Interesse beruht dann auf der Hervorhebung bestimmter Figuren, die in den Bildern der einen oder anderen Vase erscheinen. Wer sind diese Figuren? Was sind ihre Implikationen? Was haben sie mit unseren Szenen gemeinsam? Warum werden sie dargestellt? Lässt sich aus ihnen eine neue Interpretation ableiten? Darum geht es bei der Studie der Zeugen, ihrer Beteiligung und Identität.
