Le partenariat de soins en psychiatrie : comprendre les enjeux de son implémentation entre l'infirmier et la personne hospitalisée

Abstract

Introduction Dans le but d’améliorer l’utilisation des soins de santé et l’état de santé des patients, le concept de partenariat a émergé et ne cesse de se développer. Il est question d’un nouveau mode de relation entre le soignant et la personne soignée afin de permettre au patient de s’engager et de devenir un partenaire de soins. Bien que le partenariat ait déjà fait l’objet de nombreuses publications, des questions subsistent sur sa mise en pratique dans des unités de psychiatrie. Objectif Identifier et articuler les propriétés de l’implémentation du partenariat de soins dans la relation entre les infirmiers et les personnes hospitalisées en psychiatrie. Matériel et méthode La question de recherche a été explorée à l’aide d’une méthode qualitative, la théorisation ancrée. Par l’intermédiaire d’un échantillonnage théorique, des entretiens semi-dirigés ont été réalisés auprès de personnes ayant une expérience en tant que patient ou infirmier au sein d’hôpitaux psychiatriques en Belgique francophone. Les entrevues ont été retranscrites manuellement en verbatim afin de permettre l’analyse et l’émergence d’une théorie. Résultats L’analyse a permis de découvrir cinq catégories et les propriétés qui s’y rapportent. La première catégorie illustre une représentation positive à l’égard du partenariat tout en ayant une scission entre la théorie et la pratique. Les quatre autres catégories permettent de comprendre comment implémenter le partenariat entre les infirmiers et les personnes hospitalisées dans une unité de psychiatrie. Ces catégories se nomment : création de la confiance, adaptation du partenariat à la personne, nécessitant de la disponibilité et sentiment d’équité. Conclusion Les résultats de cette recherche apportent des pistes concrètes en vue de mettre en place un partenariat de soins dans une unité de psychiatrie.

Introduction In an effort to improve the use of health care and the health status of patients, the concept of partnership has emerged and continues to develop. It is about a new way of relating between the caregiver and the care receiver to allow the patient to engage and become a partner in care. Although the concept of partnership has been widely published, questions remain about its implementation in psychiatric units. Aim To identify and articulate the properties of the implementation of the care partnership in the relationship between nurses and psychiatric patients. Material and method The research question was explored using a qualitative method, the grounded theory. Through theoretical sampling, semi-structured interviews were conducted with individuals who had an experience as patients or nurses in psychiatric hospitals in French-speaking Belgium. The interviews were manually transcribed in verbatim in order to allow analysis and the emergence of a theory. Results The analysis revealed five categories and their related properties. The first category illustrates a positive representation of partnership whilst differentiating between theory and practice. The other four categories provide an understanding of how to implement the partnership between nurses and patients in a psychiatric unit. These categories are: building trust, adaptation the partnership to the individual, requiring availability and a sense of equity. Conclusion The results of this research provide concrete guidelines for setting up a care partnership in a psychiatric unit.
