Abstract
[en] This thesis explores the characteristics of the Flemish identity as projected on the international stage through paradiplomacy. In the federal Belgium where the Regions enjoy a large degree of autonomy, Flanders seems to distinguishes itself by a strong and affirmed identity. Our research seeks to analyse the elements of this regional identity that are conveyed by Flemish diplomats in various international contexts. By examining official discourses, this study identifies the constituent elements of Flemish identity that are highlighted and aims to extract a conception of this national identity. The results highlight the way in which the region projects a facet of its identity in order to position itself and influence its international relations.
