Abstract

[en] This master’s thesis examines the key role of Kurdish women in the struggle for self-determination and social change in the Middle East. It analyzes how they resist political and patriarchal oppression while reshaping community identity. Focusing on concepts like agency, autonomy, and intersectionality, with emphasis on the Rojava experience, the study highlights feminist practices such as Jineolojî and women’s armed groups like the YPJ. Through thematic coding and qualitative analysis, it shows that women’s empowerment is central to both the Kurdish cause and broader fights for freedom and gender equality in conflict zones.
