Abstract

[fr] This study addresses media coverage around the issue of climate change and
public health in the Maldives as a foundation for a Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices (KAP)
study, by analysing and comparing three types of media: institutional media, online media,
and social media. It follows an explanatory sequential mixed methods design, in which quantitative and qualitative components are integrated sequentially. This study demonstrates the importance of the international community through collaboration, investments and support, and of global health determinants impacted by climate change, rather than specific issues in public discourse. The digital context of news communication proves the influence of media covering on the population’s knowledge regarding climate change and public health, which confirms the utility of a KAP study to collect valuable information and operationalise adaptation planning and communication around these issues.
