Abstract

[en] Thanks to its unique and innovative expertise, Corman has been developing, manufacturing, and distributing butters, creams, and anhydrous milk fats since 1935.
Until now, one of the major problems of the company was the fact that it had no planning horizon beyond 4 months. As this vision is extremely limited in time, the objective of the project was to study the implementation of a sales and operations planning process at Corman. It will allow the company to formalize and structure its medium-term planning process in order to obtain decision support tools and to be able to anticipate problems.
First of all, a literature review allowed to present in a clear and global way what an S&OP process consists of, it also shows the benefits that a company can get from its implementation. Then, an analysis of the initial situation of the company was performed in order to establish an overview of the performance of the coordination and planning process in their initial form and to identify the main points for improvements. Finally, different elements were put in place in order to effectively implement an S&OP process within Corman. Furthermore, the way in which the monthly process will be used in the company was defined in detail.
At the end of this project, the S&OP process implemented within the company is very manual. However, this process will allow Corman to improve in many ways. First of all, the company will be able to act according to a regular schedule. Then, the formalization of the process has allowed to assign the different tasks to the actors involved. Furthermore, the process implemented ensures that all team members work with the same set of data and with a common action plan. Thanks to the numerous performance indicators that it provides, the process will be a decision-making tool. From now on, the company will have a longer-term vision, which will allow it to anticipate future problems.
