Abstract

[en] This thesis aims to develop a tool, in the form of a questionnaire, for potential buyers of SMEs in Wallonia, with the purpose of giving an idea to the candidate’s readiness for the takeover of a company. The existing questionnaire of SOWACCESS (Walloon Company for SME Transfer and Takeover), called ‘Test Repreneur’, has been used as a basis for identifying the existing gaps of information of this test.
To start, a review of the academic literature has been conducted to contextualize the business transfer market, specifically the take-over of business, both in terms of the process itself and, the good practices and difficulties that may be encountered during the acquisition of the business. This part was also used to build the tool. Then, the existing test has been described and its potential deficiencies have been identified by comparing its content to the theorical approach. Finally, a survey was conducted among business transfer experts to identify the key elements to be highlighted in the questionnaire but also the risks existing in the market of business transfer at the Walloon level. The results from the scientific literature as those of the survey have been used to make recommendations in order to make and implement the tool.
