Résumé
[en] In this project, the context around the development of the hydrogen technology and its storage will first be set. Then, the literature used will be presented, alongside the objectives of this
entire study. How hydrogen is currently or could be used in several transport sectors will also be
explained, being the focus for the design of the structures made in this project.
Afterward, the specific concepts regarding the material used for the manufacture of the tanks
will be looked at. The properties of composite materials will be set and the effect of low temperature will be studied. The theoretical models for computation used in the project will also be detailed. Then, the state of the art regarding composite hydrogen tanks will finally be presented, followed by a description of the manufacturing process chosen.
The methodology developed in this project will then be detailed. Two different structures will
be studied, but the same method for the general design, the analytical computation and numerical simulations will used.
Finally, the method presented will be applied to the two cases studied, and the results will be
presented and analysed. The design of the structure will provide the general dimensions and load cases for each tank. The analytical computation will determine the thickness of composite required in each section of the tank. And the numerical analysis will point out effects not taken into account by the analytical computations, giving a starting point to future improvements.
