Abstract
[en] Over the past few years, a new way to find funds has raised in the world and in the European Union: The Crowdfunding. This new financing instrument use the Internet to collect micro-investments from private investors. The crowdfunding is very useful, especially for start-up or individuals who seek to begin their activity, because of its communication opportunities and its possibility to create a real community of ambassador for the project.
While bank loans are more and more restricted due to Bale III, the crowdfunding looks like a good alternative for a young entrepreneur who wants to create its business. Furthermore, the entrepreneurship becomes necessary to restart the economy both in Europe and Belgium.
This master thesis, entitled « The crowdfunding : An effective alternative to bank loans? » focus on the differences between the crowdfunding and the bank loans. Furthermore, we have analyzed the reaction of the bank to the establishment of this new king of financing. We also develop an overview of the legislative framework of the crowdfunding in Belgium and its possible evolution. Through interviews of some professionals linked to this subject, we try to understand if the crowdfunding will become a strong new method to find funds and if it presents big advantages or disadvantages compared to bank loans.
