Abstract
[en] Women’s sport is currently undergoing unprecedent growth and has never been as recognized as today. It hasn’t always been like this. Not a long time ago, women doing sports wasn’t encouraged and, indeed, was even disapproved or forbidden. Nowadays, women have access to almost every sport discipline but many disparities remain between men and women.
In this work, we are interested in the evolution and development of women’s football. It has been particularly laborious in Europe during the 20th century.
In many european countries, women’s football started to rise in the 70th. Meanwhile, in Belgium, Federation adversely affected the progress of the discipline.
Times are changing. These days, women’s football is gaining attention among football’s responsible bodies and, progressively, the general public ; likewise, the current state of the play has increased and players dream of professionalism.
Nevertheless, there is still much work to be done before women’s football features prominently in Belgium medias.
The three main points of our action plan are : trace de big steps of women’s football history, assess the situation in Belgium, based on interviews with key figures in the development of women’s football, and, finally, come up with an analysis meant to provide points of improvement that are necessary to increase the discipline’s level.
Putting this plan into action aim to make women’s football a sport accessible to every boy and girl. The strategic plan is structured around many aspects of football, from grassroots to elite : increase the participation, improve the championship level and facilitate the pathway towards elite’s football. It suggests also a commerce strategy to increase the budget and the adhesion of a fan base.
These five strategic objectives are explained and measurable using key performance indicators to be able to control the positive development related to the process.
