Résumé
[en] Over the past twenty years, the specialized organic food sector has gained in popularity thanks to the entry of organic products into supermarkets. However, the emergence of this new competition could ultimately become a threat for the current players in the sector.
The aim of this thesis is twofold. The first is to determine whether organic retailers really need to come together, and if so, why. The second objective is to analyse how they could join their forces, and to determine the impact this could have on their performance and on the sustainability of the sector.
Based on a literature review and interviews with players in the organic sector, my thesis describes the characteristics and the current management of the supply chain in this sector, as well as the impact of collaboration mechanisms on their performance and on their competitiveness.
My research on collaborations and integrations in large retail companies led me to a particularly interesting model which is the one used by Intermarché and Les Mousquetaires. Based on an in-depth study of this model, on an interview with one of its members and on the opinions of actors in the sector, I was able to analyse its potential adaptation to the organic sector, and to define the challenges and opportunities linked to its realization.
