Abstract
[fr] This case study examines the pivotal role of Salvatore Ianello in transforming and revitalizing Chocolaterie Galler, a prominent Belgian chocolate company, in the wake of severe flooding on July 15, 2021, which submerged its factory and destroyed production tools. Despite this disaster, Ianello and his team displayed remarkable resilience, securing financial and logistical support to rebuild. The collective efforts raised 14 million euros, enabling the reintroduction of production lines by June 2022. The study highlights the company's strategic steps to implement the Libertalia model prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, recovery steps including immediate crisis response, upgrading production capabilities, and transforming the ownership structure. Financial volatility is still persisting, with a need for investments, strategic cost management, revenue diversification, and operational efficiency. Emphasis on employee well-being and sustainable practices is essential for long-term growth. The adoption of the Libertalia Model, which focusses on decentralized authority and intrapreneurship, plays a crucial role in Galler’s ongoing mission. Ianello’s leadership has positioned the company to overcome significant challenges, focusing now on sustaining employee satisfaction and financial stability.
