Abstract

[en] Industry 4.0, introduced in 2011, marks a significant shift towards digital integration in manufacturing, emphasizing connectivity and data-driven processes. Big Data, characterized by its Volume, Variety, Velocity, and Veracity, plays a crucial role in this transformation, enabling companies to collect, store, and analyze vast amounts of data from various sources (Khan M., 2017). WideTech’s flagship product, WiDE, offers an all-in-one solution for industrial data management, bridging the gap between production, supply chain, business, and maintenance. WiDE’s modular and flexible architecture allows seamless integration with existing systems, positioning it as a key player in industrial data management. WiDE provides strategic insights through advanced analytics and customizable workflows.

The regulatory landscape for ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting is rapidly evolving with the introduction of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) by the European Union. This directive imposes increased transparency and KPIs with aggregate data for more and more companies in the next years (CE, 2021). This changing regulatory context offers WideTech a unique opportunity to diversify its service offerings and position itself as an actor in the ESG data collection sector. The primary objective of this work is to find effective ways to position WideTech advantageously in this new market.

Firstly, the theoretical part will cover themes related to the evolution of ESG reporting standards, the impact of regulatory changes, and the integration of advanced technologies in data management. Additionally, it will explore the challenges and opportunities presented by the CSRD, including compliance strategies and best practices for effective ESG reporting. This comprehensive review will provide a solid foundation for understanding the current landscape.

Then, the empirical part involves in-depth interviews with industry experts, analyzing current ESG practices and the impact of CSRD requirements. The chosen qualitative approach includes semi-structured interviews aligning with the study's objectives. The interviews are designed to capture attitudes towards compliance and the challenges and opportunities perceived by companies regarding data collection, visualization, and overall ESG strategy.

Key Findings
The main challenges identified include the complexity of data integration, the need for robust data management systems, and the pressures of meeting new regulatory standards. Companies can leverage technological advancements to improve data accuracy and reporting efficiency. The use of automation tools and advanced data analytics can streamline the reporting process and enhance data reliability. Many strategic recommendations are made in the last part to give WideTech a great positioning in this new market. By focusing on continuous innovation, strategic collaborations, and enhanced customer support, WideTech can meet the customer’s needs for ESG data collection and contribute to a more sustainable and transparent business environment.
