Résumé

[fr] Climate change presents one of the most significant challenges for humankind. Earth Observation (EO) missions, particularly those utilising multispectral sensors, play a crucial role by providing detailed environmental data to address climate-related issues. These sensors, however, require rigorous calibration before deployment to ensure data accuracy and reliability.

This Master's thesis focuses on developing and assembling a test bench for the pre-flight calibration of multispectral sensors used in EO missions. The primary goal was to transition the setup from a conceptual stage to full operational capability, meeting stringent calibration requirements.

The thesis begins with an overview of the context in which this project is situated. The concepts of spectral and radiometric calibration process are then presented emphasising their accuracy requirements. The spectral calibration was required to achieve a spectral resolution of 0.2 nm, while the radiometric calibration targeted an accuracy of 3\% (goal) and 5\% (threshold). The thesis then detailed the assembly and integration of the test bench components. Key results from the project include the successful calibration of the monochromator, which confirmed that the spectral resolution requirement of 0.2 nm was met, and the achievement of the 5\% radiometric accuracy threshold. These results demonstrate that the assembled test bench is fully operational and capable of supporting the critical calibration needs of multispectral sensors in EO missions.

This work has effectively established a robust and reliable test bench for multispectral sensor calibration. This project lays a foundation for future calibration efforts, to further enhance the accuracy of the test bench.
