Abstract
[en] This thesis investigates consumer attitudes and collection strategies within Belgium's smartphone refurbishment industry, emphasizing the circular economy's role in tackling electronic waste (e-waste). A survey was conducted to collect data on consumer behavior, intentions, and perceptions regarding refurbished smartphones and the resale of unused devices. The results not only highlight the significance of quality, price, and warranty in purchasing decisions but also propose a buyback price model for refurbishers. This pricing guide is intended to align with consumer expectations and improve the effectiveness of smartphone collection efforts. Additionally, the study incorporates a PEST analysis to evaluate the political, economic, social, and technological factors influencing the industry. The principal aim is to promote sustainable practices within the smartphone sector, thereby reducing e-waste and supporting environmental sustainability.
