Abstract
[fr] The aim of this thesis is to examine how sustainable entrepreneurs, both men and women, supported by self-employment aid structures (SAACE) in Wallonia, utilize social capital to address challenges and achieve entrepreneurial success. The theoretical framework, structured in three chapters, explores key concepts such as (sustainable( entrepreneurship and social capital. The empirical research, based on 12 semi-structured interviews, reveals the critical role of social capital in enabling access to resources, mentorship, and networks. This is particularly significant for young and female entrepreneurs, who often encounter barriers such as credibility concerns related to age, gender biases, and restricted access to funding. The study also provides actionable recommendations for various stakeholders. For entrepreneurs, it underscores the need to cultivate diverse networks and engage in mentorship opportunities. For SAACE, it suggests implementing gender-sensitive mentorship programs and fostering collaborative platforms among entrepreneurs. At the policy level, the thesis advocates for revising funding mechanisms to enhance accessibility for young and female entrepreneurs and initiating awareness campaigns to combat stereotypes and promote inclusive entrepreneurship.
This research enhances the understanding of how social capital and tailored support measures
contribute to equitable and sustainable entrepreneurial development in Wallonia, offering a basis for future studies and policy advancements.
