Abstract
[en] This thesis investigates the impact of sustainability reporting on market reactions for Belgium’s
largest firms. Specifically, we investigate whether higher levels of ESG (Environmental, Social, and
Governance) disclosure are associated with positive market reactions in the BEL-20 index. In
response to the growing debate on ESG financial materiality, this thesis addresses the lack of
clarity surrounding the financial market’s response to ESG disclosures in the context of Belgian
f
irms listed on the BEL-20 index.
