Abstract
[en] Obesity is rising rapidly in Europe and represents a major public health and social challenge.
While the link between poverty and obesity is well-documented in the United States, evidence
for Belgium remains limited. This thesis investigates whether poverty has an impact on obesity
in Belgium and through which mechanisms it influences it.
Using the Health Interview Survey from Sciensano and the Lewbel model, the results show that low income groups have a significantly higher probability of being obese compared to the high income groups.
