Abstract
[en] This thesis examines how a service-oriented SME can assess the feasibility of connected technological solutions, such as sensors, monitoring tools and robotic equipment, and move from a technological idea to an operational deployment. The research is based on the case of XLG Facility, within the Liège HUB, and focuses in particular on a pilot project involving a connected autonomous scrubber-dryer implemented at an industrial client site in the aeronautical sector.
The objective is not to recommend one specific technology, but to identify the conditions under which a technological innovation can become useful, acceptable, economically defensible and operationally deployable. To achieve this, the study adopts a qualitative approach based on semi-structured interviews, field observation and a comparison with the academic literature.
The findings show that feasibility does not depend solely on the technical performance of the solution. It also depends on its fit with real working conditions, the support provided to users, training, perceived customer value, available resources and the organisation’s ability to manage change progressively.
The thesis therefore proposes an iterative roadmap to structure future technological projects, from the identification of needs to the capitalisation of lessons learned. The recommendations aim to help XLG, as well as comparable service units, move forward step by step by testing, adjusting and structuring decisions before considering wider deployment.
