Abstract
[en] Renewable energy is widely described as sustainable and this label is usually examined during the generation phase where clean electricity is produced. As the energy transition accelerates, questions about what happens upstream in mining and manufacturing, and downstream at the end of life, remain unanswered in both academic research and public discussions.
