Abstract
[en] The economic revolution currently affecting the space industry has been accompanied by developments in miniaturized high performance optical systems through a new generation of optics: the freeform optics. In addition, the market trend in astronomical telescopes is to enlarge the diameter of the mirrors thanks to their segmentation into smaller mirrors. Therefore, AMOS’ markets are witnessing a transition from the traditional economic model, specialized in unit-specific production, to small and medium-sized serial production. As a result, the markets in which AMOS operates are constantly evolving and the company's ability to adapt is a key factor in its long-term survival.
The manufacturing activities of AMOS high performance optics is a key business activity within AMOS which is subject to specific competitive conditions in particular markets and requires its own strategy. Therefore, the manufacture of complex optics must be maintained as a well-identified business activity that has external and internal customers.
This thesis aims to study the manufacturing activities of AMOS high performance optics and their evolution through a business plan. A first study highlights the value creation by its production activities thanks to its vertical integration as well as the relative importance of different cost objects. Then, an analysis of the competitive system compares the competitiveness of the company with its main rivals. Subsequently, the business model of the company is established according to the Business Model Canvas model which studies how the company meets customer expectations and generates revenue through value creation. Finally, a financial plan examines the profitability of several investments that aim to increase the company's production capacity and give it a competitive advantage.
