Résumé
[en] The logistics and transport section is one of the most important component of the supply chain process. This is responsible for the delivery of goods to the final customers and generates a lot of costs for the companies. As a competitive firm, Prayon is considering reducing the cost of their transport by optimising the loading of these ones.
The project thesis conducted within Prayon consisted in the development of recommendations and avenues for improvement in order to reduce its transportation cost, if improvement is feasible.
The aim of the work was first to identify and understand the actual transport situation in the company and determine which production site, which products and which type of transport would be analysed for this work regarded the magnitude of the activities of Prayon :
- Sites of production analysed: Bi and PTA
- Products analysed: palletized products
- Types of transport analysed: tautliner and container
The second part of the work was to determine if a cost reduction was possible or not. The data’s were collected in BW and SAP, the company’s databases. Lots of calculations have been realised in Excel based on hypotheses of optimization. Factory visits have been also done in order to become aware of the situation on the ground.
This part was a complex task to deal with for different reasons:
- The diversity of the products
- The availability of the required data’s
- The organizational constraints
- The weight regulation
- The space optimization
From lots of calculations and hypotheses, gains in the transport seem to be achievable and a lot of recommendations can be made. Prayon has to put in place IT system, with all the updating data’s, which would help the employees to optimize the payloads thanks to the calculations and analyses conducted during this project.
