Abstract

[en] Nowadays, with the rise of digitalization, more and more companies are transforming their processes in order to be able to keep up with changes and control their workers and resources. Trendy Foods’ truck drivers were one of the only parts of the supply chain that was still independent of that digitalization. Therefore, a big part of the containers delivered were lost because no tracking was made on these containers. Moreover, Trendy Foods has a BI system in place for a few years that allows the company to have a better vision of the work done by its workers. With the rise of technology, this management tool had to be revisited in order to obtain a new one adapted to the current working conditions.
Therefore, Trendy Foods decided to launch two projects. The first one was the digitalization of the work of the truck drivers with the aim of having a better tracking on deliveries and on containers. The second project was the creation of a new evaluation formula representative of the current work of the pickers with the aim of having an up-to-date BI.
The methodology undertaken to achieve the formula objective was to conduct observations on the current work of pickers. These observations were analyzed to develop statistics on the tasks that make up a picker's workday and determine the new weight of the axes and fix the objective to be reached for the workers. Concerning the digitalization project, requirements have been made and the partner of the project was determined. The analysis of the requirements as well as developments required were performed, testing is planned in the next weeks. Parallel objectives such as the adaptation of the company's ERP and equipment installations had to be planned in order to meet the project deadlines. These elements are developed in the thesis.
The methodology applied in these projects has produced convincing results. The new evaluation formula enables the evaluation of the workers on a better basis and should increase the performance of the warehouse. The implementation of the new container tracking system is on schedule and should be profitable after four years and four months.
