L'influence de la blockchain au sein de la distribution de biens de confiance dans l'économie sociale

Abstract

To the consumer, the social economy is a solution to several dysfunctionalities of the private sector. The social economy can thus satisfy the consumer’s needs in various fields and more specifically in the context of information asymmetry. Information asymmetry is an issue that the social economy can tackle by producing credence goods. This is a regular problem in several sectors such as finance, personal services and food. However, the use of new information and communication technologies can have an impact on information asymmetry. This thesis aims to assess the possible effects of using the blockchain technology to improve transparency and trust within the food supply chains and its impact on the social economy. In a first phase, this thesis broadly introduces the blockchain technology in order to understand the different aspects surrounding this technology. Thereafter, trust will be discussed in regard to the social economy and the production of credence goods. Lastly, there will be a chapter dedicated to the use of blockchain in the agri-food chain. In a second phase, this work seeks to gather the different practitioners' opinion thanks to a survey with various store managers who have been informed about the blockchain. Those store managers work in capitalist and social enterprises. They allowed to highlight some advantages and drawbacks of the blockchain. However, the general opinion reveals a lack of knowledge of the blockchain technology, belittling these promises.

La confiance est un sujet de plus en plus déterminant pour le consommateur. En effet, qui croire lorsque l’entreprise ou la personne en face de nous possède à la fois un intérêt financier à nous mentir et l’essentiel des informations concernant le processus de fabrication du produit ? C’est notamment en réponse à ce problème d’asymétrie d’information et ce besoin de confiance que l’économie sociale s’est développée. Celle-ci bénéficie du manque de confiance ressenti par les consommateurs de l’économie classique pour se développer. C’est le cas dans le domaine de l’agroalimentaire qui fait l’objet de cette recherche. La blockchain, une nouvelle technologie, promet de redonner confiance aux consommateurs. Cette technologie pourrait notamment être présente comme un outils de transparence dans nos choix de consommation. Ce mémoire a comme ambition, entre autres, d'expliquer plus en détail le fonctionnement de la blockchain ainsi que les enjeux liés à cette technologie. Nous avons pour cela réalisé des entretiens auprès de gérants de magasins provenant de l'économie classique ainsi que de l'économie sociale. Ces entretiens ont permis de souligner les avantages et les inconvénients de la blockchain. Cependant, l'opinion général révèle un manque de connaissance de la blockchain réduisant ses promesses.
