Résumé

[en] My project - dissertation concerns the following issue: "The benefits of the outsourcing of non-core activities in the asset management industry". This means that the aim is to investigate the benefits of asset managers outsourcing their non-core activities. The development of my thesis, as well as the drafting of my conclusion, is carried out in several distinct stages.
Firstly, it starts with the analysis of the entire asset management value chain, which is divided into three parts: Back, Middle and Front – Office. Then, having completed my internship in Luxembourg, there will be an analysis of the fund industry, as it is the dominant industry in this country with a highlight on UCITS and AIF funds. Secondly, a theoretical analysis of which functions are outsourced and why. However also a focus on the various trends and technological innovations that are changing the way this industry is viewed. Because technology makes it possible to be more efficient even if many activities are still too specific and therefore manual.
Thirdly, a comparison between the theory, the results of the surveys and the reality on the ground at KPMG, allows conclusions to be drawn and to respond to this issue with a fairly nuanced opinion. Moreover, it makes it possible to develop certain recommendations.
