Abstract
[en] The aim of the thesis is to explore the evolution of the banking industry towards Open Banking,
with a particular focus on the role of the European regulation PSD2 as a catalyst for change. Our qualitative study is based on interviews that were conducted with experts representing the
innovation departments of institutions from within the banking industry, the FinTechs sector, as
well as professional associations. Those interviews where analyzed with a thematic analysis and
we linked the results of our analysis to a theoretical business model framework in order to see the
impact Open Banking has on banks’ businesses.
