"Dit is het verhaal van een banale liefde": Homoseksualiteit in het werk van Tom Lanoye en Gerrit Komrij

Abstract

In this thesis I investigate how homosexuality is dealt with in the literature of both authors Gerrit Komrij and Tom Lanoye. I start with a historical background of homosexuality in which I take an international perspective and I zoom in on some specific elements that occured in the Netherlands and in Belgium. I then discuss what is meant by homosexual literature in order to draw out characteristics that are later applicable in my analysis and I take several examples from the Dutch and Flemish literature. Finally, I focus on the different themes that both Komrij and Lanoye tackle in relation to homosexuality. I analyse both their poetry and their prose in order to have a broad overview of the theme of homosexuality in their work.
