The situation in India is not different, being this a clear example of gender inequality, where the role of women in society continues to be undervalued despite the enactment of various laws that recognize women's equal rights and even the right for equal pay. The workplace is not an exception, and this gender inequality is one of the biggest problematics at the workplace worldwide, including India.
The objective of this work is to point out the main causes that contribute nowadays to the inequality between women and men at the workplace and present some possible lines of actions for the years to come to improve this situation in India by following an inductive approach. To this end, this work contextualize the current socioeconomical situation of India highlighting the situation of Indian women and studies the IT sector, which has seen one of the greatest acceptance rates of women in the country.
