Abstract

La disponibilité des ressources alimentaires est un paramètre important pour comprendre l'évolution d'un écosystème face aux menaces anthropiques. Chromis chromis est un petit poisson omniprésent le long des côtes méditerranéennes. Par sa position centrale dans le réseau trophique et par l'importance de sa biomasse, il peut servir d'indicateur de la santé de son écosystème. Dans ce contexte, le présent travail vise à étudier les relations entre la présence de Chromis chromis et du zooplancton dont il se nourrit. Nous avons mesuré de manière conjointe les densités spatiales de Chromis chromis et du zooplancton à des échelles fines (de l'ordre de la dizaine de mètres). Il apparaît que, dans certains cas, Chromis chromis est susceptible d'adapter son niveau d'agrégation en fonction de la disponibilité de la ressource suivant un schéma spécifique. Mais la corrélation est très imparfaite et d'autres facteurs régissent également la distribution spatiale de ces organismes.

The availability of food resources is an important parameter in understanding the evolution of an ecosystem confronted to anthropogenic threats. Chromis chromis is a small fish ubiquitous along Mediterranean coasts. Because of its position at the centre of the trophic web and the importance of its biomass, it can be used as an indicator of the health of its ecosystem. In this context, the aim of the present work is to study the relationships between the presence of Chromis chromis and the zooplankton on which it feeds. We have jointly measured the spatial densities of Chromis chromis and of the zooplankton at fine scales (of about ten meters). It appears that, in particular cases, Chromis chromis may be able to adapt its level of aggregation according to the availability of the resource, following a specific pattern. But the correlation is far from being perfect, and other factors also govern the spatial distribution of these organisms.
