Abstract

Ce travail de fin d'études part d'un questionnement sur les modes de représentation conventionnels de l'architecture et leurs limites : ces outils peinent parfois à rendre compte de l'espace vécu, de la manière dont les habitants s'approprient un lieu, de son évolution dans le temps. C'est à partir de ce constat que ce travail explore la notion de portrait comme outil d'analyse complémentaire, capable d'introduire une forme de sensibilité dans la lecture d'un bâtiment. La Cité du Lignon, grand ensemble genevois construit entre 1963 et 1971 et aujourd'hui classé monument et site, en constitue le terrain d'étude, un objet d'autant plus complexe que ses dimensions et sa densité amplifient ces questions. Par une immersion sur site, des rencontres avec les habitants et les acteurs du quartier, et une représentation entièrement dessinée à la main, ce travail cherche à restituer ce que les outils conventionnels ne disent pas, en plaçant la question de la temporalité et de l'évolution du bâtiment au cœur de la démarche.

This final-year project begins with a reflection on conventional methods of architectural representation and their limitations. Such tools sometimes struggle to convey lived space, the ways in which inhabitants appropriate a place, and how architecture evolves over time. From this observation, the project explores the notion of portraiture as a complementary analytical tool, capable of bringing a more sensitive reading to the interpretation of a building. The Cité du Lignon, a large housing estate in Geneva built between 1963 and 1971 and now listed as a protected monument, serves as the case study. Its scale and density further intensify these questions. Through on-site immersion, encounters with residents and local stakeholders, and entirely hand-drawn representations, this work seeks to reveal what conventional tools often fail to capture by placing the temporality and evolution of the building at the core of the approach.
