Abstract
[en] Make or buy decision is a choice between producing an item in-house or outsourcing it. This decision is really not easy to take especially when it concerns key activities such the manufacturing of products. It requires a previous in depth analysis of both situations to take the decision that is the most suitable for the enterprise.
LaCAR MDx Technologies, a Belgian start-up active in the biotechnology community and more specifically the genetic diagnostic, was confronted with this dilemma for its production operations. This project focuses on the way how LaCAR MDx proceeded to ensure the best control of its activities.
A global assessment with regard to the overall LaCAR MDx situation was realized in order to reach the best decision for the society and its development.
After having made the decision to internalize the production of its diagnostic kits, the operations of such important activities was implemented by taking into account all criteria that could have an impact on the process or the product quality.
Having established this production process internally an extensive analysis was necessary to evaluate the added value in many important aspects such as the quality, the delay and the costs but also the reactivity, the efficiency and the agility. In parallel, the comparison with the external production situation allowed to have a clear view on the gain or loss of this internal process on several levels.
